You are listening to daily insights on the Three ABN radio Network. And here is your host, Kaysie Butler. Hello and welcome to the program.
It has been said that the measure of your Christianity is gauged by the character of your home life. What is your home like? What are you like at home? And what should home be like? We'll explore this topic in the program today. According to the Scriptures, following the Lord's plans for building and establishing a home are critical for its success.
Listen as Esther Muy sings about this in Psalm 127. Put to song unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who believe? Unless the Lord asks the city, the watchman stays awake in vain. It is made for you to rise up early, to sit up late to eat the bread of sorrow, for so he gives his beloved.
Behold, children are heritage from the moon the fruit of the womb is a reward like arrows in the head of a warrior, so are the children of once you happy is the man who has his grievable of them. They shall not be ashamed, but shall speak with their enemies in the game. Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain.
Who build it? Unless the Lord guides the city, the watchman stays awake in vain. It is vain for you to rise up early to see, not late to eat the bread of sorrow, for so he gives his beloved sleep. Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord.
The fruit of the womb is a reward. Like arrows in the head of a warrior, so are the children of once you happy is the man who has his creep up all. They shall not be ashamed, but shall speak with their enemies in the gate.
The Bible describes children as being like arrows in the hands of mighty men. It is so true that as parents, the power you have to mold and direct the child's life is profound. Children can grow up to be leaders and mighty men in the next generation.
But their success often depends on how things have been established in their home life. I want to share with you now a poem written by Robert Hare called Mothers of Boys as this describes some key things that are important in raising children. Mothers of Boys are they going away? Be sure there's a link to bind them a cable of love to hold them fast wherever the world may find them the world is crooked and full of snares round them and everywhere in it.
The best way to keep them from sin is to help them before they begin it. Remember that they are the leaders of men in the drama that lies just before you and you must be rulers of actors to be so. Teach them to love and adore you.
The hand that rests on the cradle today can rule in the wide world tomorrow. But first it must weave, for cradle and heart a love chain. Divested of sorrow, plant kisses of love, but never forget their name.
At the altar of heaven there is power in prayer, since Jesus has said ask and it shall be given. Mothers of boys, remember your part must be filled with a holy sweetness. If through this old world you will carry your prize into life's full completeness.
Notice that this poem described how important it was to allow the children to experience love in the home. And that is what the next song is about. Love at home and it's sung by the Fountain View Academy.
There is beauty all around when there's love at home there is joy in every sound when there's love at home peace and plenty here I buy smiling fair on every side time when it kindly when there's love at home love at home love at home time outside when Jesus make me holy night and love I never safely from all harm I'll rest with no sinful care distress through my when love that holy glide when Education page 283 says in the Formation of Character no other influences count so much as the influence of the home. What do you want for your children? What kind of influences do you want to surround them with? Tom Waters shares what he wants for his children in the next song. What do I want for my children? Do I seek for them worldwide fame? Do I treasure for them wealth and riches? Do I want their lives to be just like a game? What do I want for my children? Is it power and wisdom and might? Do I want for them untold blessings? Do I want everything to go just right? I'll tell you what I want for my children.
A heart full of peace from above. A life of serving others. A heart of patience and love.
I want them to know my savior, to be free from the power of sin. This is what I want for my children. I want them to walk with him.
I want them to be like him. Proverbs 20, verse eleven says that even a child is known by his doings whether his work be pure and whether it be right. This tells us that the foundation of fine character can be established and even be evident when children are very young.
In fact, it's been said that too much importance cannot be placed upon the early training of children. Faithful work in this area offers a rich reward not only in this life, but in the life to come. Sarah DeGette is now going to sing a song called Tribute to Godly Teachers and this song is particularly an encouragement for parents who are the children's first teacher.
Teaching me patiently, laboring selflessly to show something better that God has in store living the Christian life setting the standard sigh you show me Jesus as never before through the sunshine and the good days through the wind and the rain your prayers and your strivings have not been in vain. When we're gathered in the kingdom I'll be able to say you're the reason I'm here on this day. The results of the seeds that you planted so faithfully.
You may not see at this moment in time, but slowly and surely, they'll spring to Maturity. You'll reap the great harvest of your Sacrifice through the Sunshine and the good Days, through the wind and the Rain. Your presence.
Your strivings have not been in vain. When we're gathered in the kingdom, I'll be able to say you're the reason I'm here. On this day, at this moment.
You're lost to the world, Renown. But you burned a glittering store in your crown through the sunshine and the good days through the wind and the rain your prayers and your strivings have not been in Vain? When we're gathered in the Kingdom I'll be able to say you're the reason I'm here on this day. You're the reason.
You're the reason. Have you ever thought about what the ideal location is for a home? Well, the answer connects back to the setting of the home of our first parents. We're now going to listen to a song called Country Living, sung by Andy McLeod, which describes the advantages of a home in nature.
Country living the air breeze clean and the sky it is all blue feel the sunshine on your skin get you warming deep with the he rolling hills and valleys wide country rivers are running clean all over help me. The air breeze clean and the sky, it is all blue feel the sunshine on your skin get you warming deep with the he rolling hills and valleys wide country rivers are running clean o Lord, help me take my family to country living a place o Lord, help me take my family to country living a place a home in the country can be a refuge from many temptations and evils in this world. It can be a safe haven where children can grow up with positive influences and in an environment that is conducive to developing a more pure character. Listen as Daryl Sawyer and Laura Williams sing about how home can be a refuge in their song Prayer for Home.
Grant them peace, most precious gift of all keep the worried world far away and small when they return, be quiet. Fill their soul. Dearest Lord.
Keep them safe within its wallet. May the stone be cool beneath their feet the canyon reason circle soft and sweet when darkness fall, stars and opal moon find them wrapped in each other ever won. May it be a refuge for their love, a harbor for the deepest prayer.
May they come to flourish in God's Word, grow ever nearer to you there's many a burden friend in their company rises a heavy heart is soon released to fly. May their table be blessed with laughter and with grace and by the comfort of kinship be surprised. May it be a refuge for their love, harbor for their deepest prayer.
May they come to flourish in God's Word. Grow ever nearer to you there but ram and may the cold winds blow far from their front door. May the winter rains never bring them home.
May their hearth fire burn throughout the night. Grant them sleep until morning's perfect light. May it be a refuge for their love harvest breath.
May they come to flourish in God's Word, grow ever nearer to you there in the Book Adventist Home, we find some truly inspirational thoughts about what home should be like. Like this one. Home should be made all that the word implies.
It should be a little heaven upon earth, a place where the affections are cultivated instead of being studiously repressed. Our happiness depends upon this cultivation of love, sympathy and true courtesy to one another. And then there's this one.
God wants home to be the happiest place on earth, the very symbol of the home in heaven. We cannot cherish home affection with too much care for the home if the Spirit of the Lord dwells. There is a type of heaven.
The Waters family is now going to sing about this in the song the sweetest type of heaven is the home where the Lord abides pure thoughts and gentle words from all who dwell inside. If we will give our life and serve it to the King of Kings, we will be part of that heavenly family where Jesus rains. It's a long road we're walking, and the way is often dark.
Families all around us are falling apart, the object of Satan's wrath, the target of his hate. We must come to Jesus before it's too late. The sweetest type of heaven is the home where the light abides pure thoughts and gentle words from all who dwell inside.
If we will give our lives and service to the King of Kings, we will be part of that heavenly family where Jesus reigns supreme our Savior he has promised that he will be our guide open up our homes to Him and within the priest of every home will guide you and you never be alone. The sweetest type of heaven is the home where the Lord of eyes, pure thoughts and gentle words from all who dwell inside. If we will give our lives and service to the King of Kings we will be part of that heavenly family where Jesus reigns we will be part of that heavenly family where Jesus reigns.
A Breath what if your home is far from being like heaven as so many homes tend to be today? Well, there is a remedy. It is only through Christ that we can have a home like that of heaven again. From the Adventist home I read all the common waters of life christ can turn into the wine of heaven.
The home then becomes as an Eden of bliss, the family a beautiful symbol of the family in heaven. You've been listening to Daily insights. I'm your host Kaysie Butler, and I pray today that by God's grace you can help make your home more like heaven.
